From me to you!
This is my "micro-blog." I will try to do all my assignments and model "pushing the boundaries." Join me!
Pushing the Creative and Imaginative YOU
This is all about you. Can you use animation, text, images, audio to express yourself online. Of course the next question is once you express yourself, can you get a response to that expression?
You can tell from the bookmarks in my tumblelog this week that our work combines picking up new skills in Flash and being inspired by other animators who are publishing work online.
Tuesday we watched the tutorials and reviewed how to break into different layers and how to break apart images. We also explored using motion guides.
Today, Thursday, we watched the tutorials and reviewed inserting new frames (extending the timeline in your animation) and editing symbols.
If you want to review these skills, you can look in the Help section of Flash, use the Video Workshop CD or use the Atomic Learning tutorial online.
Remember I have bookmarked a lot of good resources in my delicious account. Last week, I had the pleasure of meeting and talking with Josh Schachter who created del.icio.us. He was honored at the annual event for Rhizome.
Tomorrow, Friday, keep working on your animation. Remember the visual and the audio should have a clear relationship. Next week, we will do some simple programming in Flash and create an interactive button to stop and start your animation.

Dana Boyd’s blogImagination, Creativity and Animation
Last week we began our study of animation. This study allows us to understand how digital animations are created but it is also a vehicle for creative expression. You have used text, images, and sound to express yourself and now we add animation and put them all together.Last week you explored moving a basic circle and motion tweens in Flash. You added music and then we did it all together as a group story.
This week, you are back on your own to create your own simple short animation with music. This is due Friday at the end of class. Next week, you will learn some basic Flash Action Script (programming) to create a button that will start your animation and stop it.

The opinionated guide to New York art galleriesGoogle Docs/Spreadsheet Forms Project (one week)
Recently I sent all of you a form regarding what was done or still needed to be finished in classwork.
This week, (before we start animation-I didn’t forget) each of you will create a form, poll the class and interpret the results. Let’s see how challenging, interesting and entertaining we can get with this!
First go over How to Create a Form:
http://documents.google.com/support/spreadsheets/bin/answer.py?answer=87809&query=form&topic=&type=
Click on this link to learn about making Motion Charts. http://documents.google.com/support/spreadsheets/bin/answer.py?answer=91610&topic=14186
Click on this link to see many of the different Gadgets available to use with your form. http://documents.google.com/support/spreadsheets/bin/topic.py?topic=14187
Now think of a topic for your form.
Draft it in Notepad, Wordpad or Text Edit. Plan it before building it in Google Docs/Spreadsheets.
Do only simple last minute editing in the form. When it is just the way you want it, invite all class members.
Look at your spreadsheet and interpret the data in an interesting way. What do your results mean? Publish your results to your Tumblr AND Youth Twitter. This project is due the end of class on Friday.
